The tower represents Lazzaretti's vision of the Ark of the New Covenant. Built between 14th July 1869 and 30th August 1870 in dry stone on three levels, the tower was accessed by means of a spiral reinforcement protruding from the building. Nowadays, the truncated cone of the first floor is all that remains of the building.
