Corso Toscana, Arcidosso’s main thoroughfare, was built in the mid-1800s by the town’s notable families following an extraordinarily farsighted urban vision - a hill was flattened, giving the name Poggiolo to the whole area. Leading from the current Piazza Indipendenza, which at the time was called "Tonda", Corso Toscana is lined with large, majestic buildings.
