The Poggiolo Fountain

The cast iron, neo-Gothic Poggiolo Fountain was designed by the architect Francesco Leoni in the form of a small temple, and cast in the foundries of Follonica in 1833. First situated in Piazza Dante in Grosseto, the fountain was moved to the square on Corso Toscana between 1846 and 1848. Legend has it that the citizens of Arcidosso transported the dilapidated pieces of the fountain to Arcidosso by night and reassembled them in the small Poggiolo square.
