Dating back to the 14th century, the Borgo (village) of Santa Fiora was planned based on a specific urban project along the three parallel streets of Via Sant’Antonio, Via Lunga and Via degli Orti, and between the two convents of Saint Augustine and the Capucin Poor Clares. Piazza del Borgo is a typical market space surrounded by arcades that partly still exist. Between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, the square was overlooked by shops, a tavern and probably the ancient Hospital of Saint Peter.
