Via del Fondaccio

Via del Fondaccio is probably the street in the historic centre of Santa Fiora that has the most medieval bas-reliefs, including an anvil over an old blacksmith's shop. Particularly noteworthy are two architraves which depict scenes representing wild boar hunting and an episode from the Buddhist-Christian legend of Barlaam and Josafat respectively. In the latter, a man who is being chased by wild animals finds refuge in a palm tree, from where he sees a threatening dragon below.
