“Madonna in Heaven between Saint Christopher and Saint James” by Francesco Nasini

The canvas depicts the crowned Virgin seated on a cloud in the act of handing the scapular to the baby Jesus, who is on the shoulders of Saint Christopher and reciprocating by offering a globe. Saint James the Greater is depicted with a stick used by pilgrims, a reference to the fact that his tomb in Santiago de Compostela was a pilgrimage destination. In the background, there is a landscape with the ruins of a classical building, behind which there is a hilltop town and a castle with a quadrangular fortress, which probably represents either Triana or Roccalbegna itself. The painting was attributed to Francesco Nasini by Marco Ciampolini, as reported by Salvatore di Salvo.
