The Fort

Your browser does not support the audio element.

The Aldobrandesca fortress and the Sienese fort, which stands on a minor hill, made up the defensive nub of the village of Roccalbegna. Heavily degraded in the 14th  century, the fort was restored and refitted by the Sienese in 1455, and then transformed into a residential home. The fort eventually lost its defensive function when it was taken over by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
