The underground Ceccherini Hypogeum oil mill is located in the highest part of the historic centre and was built on three descending levels. It came into operation around the year 1885, and olives continued to be milled there until the end of the 1950s. It was one of the first mills to make use of an electric motor instead of using animal traction. One of these machines, which was technologically very advanced for the time, is still visible on the first floor of the mill.
