The Oil Museum

The Seggiano Oil Museum is a unique and innovative concept that celebrates olive oil and the territory of Monte Amiata. Founded in 2012, it winds through the historic centre of the ancient village of Seggiano, which gives its name to the DOP olive oil ‘Olivastra Seggianese’, on the slopes of Monte Amiata. The museum itinerary also includes an old mill from the 1800s, the Oratory of San Rocco, with its frescoes dating back to 1490, the former town hall and recently opened oil shop (where you can do oil tasting and buy products), and the ‘Olive in the great cistern’, a unique experimental science project to grow an Olivastra Seggianese olive tree, with its roots suspended inside an ancient cistern.
