The Cross by Luca di Tommè

Your browser does not support the audio element.

Painted by the Sienese artist Luca Tommè in the second half of the 14th century, the Cross depicts Christ with his head bent to indicate suffering and death. Full of realism, the Cross is particularly venerated for having miraculously put an end to the cholera epidemic that raged through the town in 1855.
