Notable for its landscapes and views, the Giuseppe Vegni collection was donated to the Castel del Piano hospital in 1883 before being taken over by the Municipality. Mostly artistic productions of the 19th century, the works portray scenes of everyday rural life. The silk embroidered portrait of Cosimo III de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, and the self-portrait of Rosalba Carriera are among the most interesting pieces. The collection also includes a tempera on paper with a noble coat of arms from the 19th century, and an oil on canvas floral still life which was discovered during the restoration of the embroidered portrait of Cosimo III.
